Kerala Automobiles Limited (KAL), a Government of Kerala undertaking, is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities designed to support high-precision aerospace components and electric vehicle (EV) production.


1. Plant Infrastructure

 

•    Location: Situated at Aralumoodu, 16 km southeast of Thiruvananthapuram, adjacent to NH-66.
•    Campus Area: Spread over 11 acres.
•    Factory Floor: 1,00,000 square feet of carpet area.
•    Total Built-Up Area: Approximately 1.5 lakh square feet, including office spaces.
•    Facilities: 
   o    Advanced pre-treatment and painting systems, including 7-tank process System.
   o    Modern infrastructure to handle EV manufacturing and high-precision aerospace components.
   o    Dedicated sections for quality control adhering to ISO 9001:2015 standards.


2. High-Precision Machining Capabilities

 

KAL is equipped with sophisticated CNC machines to support its expertise in aerospace and EV manufacturing.

CNC Milling Machines
•    RDX 10 JYOTI: Table size 800 x 500 mm, spindle speed 8000 rpm.
•    RDX 20 JYOTI: Table size 1000 x 530 mm, spindle speed 8000 rpm.
•    VMC-1260 DM JYOTI: Table Size 1400 x 360 mm, Spindle speed 10,000 rpm.
•    PX 10 JYOTI: Table size 660 x 360 mm, Spindle speed 6000 rpm.
•    BFW AGNI BMV 45 TC24: Table size 900 x 450 mm, Spindle speed 8000 rpm, 24-tool Automatic Tool Changer (ATC).

CNC Lathes
•    DX 200 JYOTI: Maximum turning diameter 320 mm, Spindle speed 4000 rpm.
•    DX 350 JYOTI: Maximum turning diameter 600 mm, Spindle speed 2500 rpm.
•    ACE APOLLO: Maximum turning length 224 mm, spindle speed 4000 rpm.
•    STC 25: Maximum turning diameter 200 mm, spindle speed 3500 rpm.

Wire Cut and Spark EDM Machines
•    CNC Wire Cut EDM (ULTIMA-1F): High precision with 0.0005 mm resolution.
•    Spark EDM Machine (SPARKONIX): Equipped for deep drilling and fine machining.


3. Conventional Machines

 

•    Vertical Milling Machines: Models like HMT-FN2V2, TRM-5V and BFW-VF2A/B support high-precision milling.
•    Broaching Machines: For high-accuracy broaching.
•    Thread Rolling Machines: Handles diameters from 1 mm to 50 mm.
•    Gear Hobbers: Ideal for precision gear cutting with variable spindle speeds.


4. Quality Control and Testing Facilities

 

•    Profile Projector (SIPCON SP-300): High-accuracy measurement with magnification levels of 10X, 20X and 50X.
•    Digital Height Gauges (TRIMOS-VECTRA TOUCH): Accurate up to 0.0001 mm.
•    Universal Testing Machine (UTM): For compression and strength testing.
•    Hardness Testing Machines: Supports Rockwell and Brinell hardness measurements.
