The flagship model, often referred to as Kerala Neem G, is powered by a 2.2 kW BLDC motor and a lithium-ion battery offering a travel range of up to 100 km per charge with a top speed of 55 km/h and full charging time of 3 to 4 hours. It is designed to carry one driver and three passengers, featuring a lightweight composite body for improved efficiency, with metal body variants also being developed.
The vehicle is certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and approved under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. The electric auto has a low operating cost of just ₹0.50 per km, making it an affordable and sustainable option for public transport. The company has partnered with firms like Lords Automative Private Limited and Sunlit Power Pvt. Ltd to expand its EV offerings and dealer network beyond Kerala. KAL is also working on retrofitting conventional vehicles with EV kits and integrating solar charging technology for future models. With zero emissions, low maintenance and high efficiency, KAL’s electric autorickshaw contributes significantly to the green mobility mission and the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions in urban transport.
